Para Todos: La LULAC Lengua:Otro F.Y.I..:>),,,:>),,,

I've got to say this, consider this message as my report for the month of June-07 To You’ All!!

Ahh, that felt good, got it off my chest.

The other day I ran into a close friend of mine, who happens also to be " A Vietnam Vet " he mentioned to me how in this war the Hispanic/Latinos are signing up in "Mass" even though they are not citizens of this country, " BUT " are willing to sacrifice there lives so as " To Become a Citizen of this Marvelous, Great Country, we call the United States of America ". So figure that one out, in one hand Immigration Reform sort of fizzles to a short pause, maybe even a slow death, but in the other hand, we have Latino/ Hispanic Men And Women signing up for this very dangerous duty. Getting shot at is " Not " a walk in the Park. Trust me, it's not!!! I say this, what could be a great project for us to get involved in, and find out who they are, where they came from and we know the "Why" already!!

Just a crazy thought of mine, it happens. Maybe, maybe because I'm disappointed on the end result on this " C. I. R. ".Or is it because of one small part in " Flags of Our Fathers " where one of the main characters who happens to be a " Native American Indian ", would not get serve at a bar in Chicago, because he was an " Indian ". They did not serve Indians. I'm sure all of you have also heard of the "Code Talkers", this is true to history. Same thru out in history especially during war time, Men, & Women of different backgrounds and race, have step up to volunteer. This is what I'm most proud of, We Volunteer for duty. We suited up and showed up. I'm proud to be an " American ".

Well now for my June report. ACORN, Catholic Charities and LULAC have been in the front lines of this reform. We started off with a meeting on the First of June at Senator Pryor's office along with Mrs. Megan Hargraves to discuss how to best handle this reform for the people. Some suggestions were put on the table and some were sort of dismiss. Too complicated I guess. It was complicated.

June 5th, made it to the Civil Rights Forum in Northwest Arkansas sponsor by the NW. Arkansas Justice Center. Yes, I finally made a gathering in Northwest Arkansas, especially in Rogers. Must say, Not too many Northwest LULAC'ers attended this forum, have to say your lost, not mine. Very, very informative to say the least. On the 6th, a C.I.R. meeting held at the St. Johns Church for a planning on this topic and try one more time to voice our support.

June 11th, a meeting for the Southwest Health Clinic was held in downtown to discuss the next goal, " Fund Raising ". We just might have a donor. They mostly do " Bricks and Mortar, we’ll keep you inform on this further as it develops.

June 12th, A Little Rock Forum on Culture sponsored by the Little Rock Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission was held. I was out of town on this one, but we did send representatives from State Board LULAC to attend.

June 14th, Ohhhh what a day, early one was a meeting, and LULAC of Arkansas does belong on this sitting, for we are part of this board. It is a must, that is why we are being notice. This board is the " Just Communities of Central Arkansas ". Meeting started at 7:30 A.M., and ended at about 9:ish. Later on that day we did a taping at A.E.T.N. in Conway with the El Latino moderator, Mr. Leidermann, along with a guest Mr. Leo Cruz. We finished at about 3:ish.. Myself ,got lost in the translations, but still gave it a try. Nervous, " Hell Ya ".

The week of June 18th, had too take care of C.R.A.T.E.S., Inc. June the 22nd, did a power-point presentation for Council # 750 on the Southwest Clinic, or was it on the 15th. Maybe it was on the 15th.

The 27th of June another go-round on this year," Hispanic Heritage Month ", which LULAC of Arkansas is part of the committee. This is the one that is sponsor by U.A.L.R., Council # 756. Glad to be of Service to them, for they will be the " New " breed when us Old Folks decide to retire from LULAC. Keep that in mind. Right after that, the Coalition for Reform met at 4:00 in front of the Mercado San Jose to rally one more time, waving flags( American ), and signs in support for this reform. As I've mention before, Right or wrong, as an officer of this organization, I must support this agenda. National LULAC expects that of us, so we do. Even if a lost is in sight.

On the 28th, some fun stuff. Since we are also part of the Civil Rights Working Group put together by the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, we get to eat," Pond Raise, Grain Fed, Arkansas Grown Catfish, Fried Catfish" at the Main Headquarters in Little Rock. Did you know that LULAC of Arkansas also had input in starting this group. Yep, along with other organizations, we had some say so on what the F.B.I. can best serve the community. Especially when it comes to Civil Rights Law. Great Catfish. How I Love Catfish.

Next on the 29th, this is also another Board that LULAC of Arkansas must be in. It's call the Minority Initiative Sub-Recipient Grant Office, or also known as S.O.S. According to their By-Laws, they must have a Hispanic to sit on this Board, preferably a LULAC officer to represent the community.

Well this ends my report for the month of June -07. Tomorrow, I'll send out some info on jobs and other tidbits for your files. Some fun stuff I feel will be worth it. Stay Tune!!!

Thank You for your time in reading this report, I do appreciate it.
