POSITION VACANCY NOTICE

POSITION TITLE: Solid Waste Management Program Coordinator/Instructor

DATE POSITION AVAILABLE: Advertised until filled.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a twelve-month position at the Arkansas Environmental Academy. The Environmental Academy Instructor is responsible to the Director of the Environmental Academy and/or the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, SAU Tech. Specifically, the position will include but not be limited to the following duties:

  1. Revising the three (3) levels of certification courses to keep current with changing technology and/or regulations.
  2. Developing six (6) hour updates that are current with the activities occurring in each of the Regional Solid Waste Management Districts.
  3. Developing a plan to foster cooperation with all solid waste entities in Arkansas.
  4. Coordinating off campus locations with the respective District(s) to provide certification training and/or six hour updates at locations requested by the District(s) or by industry.
  5. Develop a network of qualified solid waste adjunct instructors to provide specialized training as needed to adequately teach all curriculum areas.
  6. Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of the Academy and/or Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*:

  1. Must have four (4) years of direct experience in the operation of a solid waste management facility (Class 1, Class 3C, Class 4 landfill, transfer station, composting, etc.) and be licensed as a Level C (Master) Operator.
  2. Associate of Applied Science Degree or complete one within three (3) years of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
  2. Management / supervisory experience and / or teaching experience as adjunct faculty for solid waste or related field.

ANNUAL SALARY: $42,577 (Base salary may be adjusted dependant upon the applicant’s education, experience, and specialized qualifications)
